Online School vs. Traditional School

Many people are stuck in tradition.  They went to school, sat at a desk, and struggled to stay awake while the teacher lectured.  Times are rapidly changing.  Today a parent who has to attend to their children or someone with a full time job can still have time to go to school and get their college degree.  This is possible through online schooling.

Some benefits of taking classes online vs. taking classes the “traditional” way:

  • Online schooling allows you to attend class when it is convenient for you.  If you have things to do during the day (work, taking care of your children, doctor appointments, etc.), you have the luxury to sign on when you have completed your busy day.  You can even sign on during the weekends.
  • With traditional classes, you have to work your schedule around the times that the classes you need to take are offered.  If you miss class, you would need to obtain the notes from someone in the class so you don’t miss the lectured material.
  • Your online classes will have the lecture and discussion materials posted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  This is very convenient when you want to re-read materials or learn at your own pace.
  • With traditional classes, you would need to take notes at the speed at which your instructor is lecturing.  You aren't able to re-listen to the lectures in order to jot down what you may have missed.

There are so many advantages to taking online classes vs. traditional classes.  The most important advantage is being able to “attend” class when it is convenient for you.

Brick and mortar schools will never be eliminated, but times are changing and schooling is becoming easier for people who have busy schedules.  Don’t let having children or a full-time job stop you from advancing your career in your field of choice.  In today’s competing job market having a college degree is the key to opening new doors at your current company or opening up new doors for a new company.
